What is the Coastal Forest Industry Project?

The Working in the Woods Today project is an initiative to capture the images and stories of the industry today, in the early 21st century. My goal is to produce a book about Working in the Woods Today, BC's coastal forest industry in the 21st century - from pre-harvest planning and engineering, through falling, yarding, sorting, and booming, to regeneration and stand management. My focus is on the people who work in it, the environments they are working in, the technologies and machinery they are using in BC's primary industry.

The coastal industry is spread from Sooke to north of Prince Rupert, including all of Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and thousands of kilometres of BC's remote coastline. To make the project a success I will be needing support from a wide range of sponsors. Every crew book, company history, and "team photo" assignment counts. As do trips in and out of locations by boat, plane, or helicopter.
